Very into requesting songs—he san a verse of “Old MacDonald” all by himself
He has fun finishing the final words of phrases in his favorite books. In the “mi Dinosaurio” book he’ll now say pequeño, nada, cuidado, mil gracias, and juguetes.
New favorite book this week—The ABC’s where the setter “I” says “icecream”
Counting—he tries to go past twenty and its pretty cute to hear his new number combos.
When you spell something he says “Isaac!”—bascially James was trying to teach him how to spell his names but he’s overgeneralizing a bit.
He’ll say “tomar agua” and “drink water”
Phrase of the week, “quieres uno?”
He like’s to play “Donde esta Isaac” or “Where’s Isaac” and hide behind curtains or doors.
Lots of requests lately for the happy birthday song—maybe he senses his is coming up soon.
James had to go to Singapore for work this week and last minute we decided to make it a family vacation because we found a great deal on an airline ticket. On Friday of this week we drove to L.A. and then flew to Malaysia. It was 17 hours to Taibei and then another four hours to Kuala Lumpur. It was some crazy traveling, but somehow we all survived. We didn’t actually arrive until Sunday afternoon


Feb. 20th-26th, 2006
This week we were in Malaysia and we stayed with Sanjiv’s (James’ good friend from school) parents, Anan and Aruna, at their condo in Kuala Lumpur until Wednesday when we took a short flight to Singapore and then we came back to Kuala Lumpur Friday and left for home on Sunday.
One of Isaac’s favorite things about the whole traveling adventure was getting to go on multiple elevators and escalators. He’s now calling elevators “alligators” and he loves to push buttons—multiple times if possible.
He wasn’t too excited about the food there, but Aruna had some chicken nuggets, pbj fixings, rice, and fruit that he ate.
We went around in taxi’s a lot and he learned the word taxi.
He likes saying thankyou and good night to everything these days.
New word combinations that he came up when himself: “uh-oh sleep” when he looked at his port-a-crib being taken apart, and “nice corazon” when he was pointing at a gold heart necklace that Aruna was wearing.
On Saturday Anan and Aruna took us to this amazingly beautiful Hindu temple built into a mountain on the edge of the city. There was a huge statue in front of it and stairs that went all the way up the mountain into a cave area where there were different areas of worship. We also saw a monkey inside the cave and Isaac was pretty pumped about that.
He surprised us by singing the words to “Diez Deditos”—a Spanish song about 10 little fingers—all by himself.


Feb 28th- Mar 5th, 2006
Returned Monday Feb 27th
Jet lag recovery week- pretty rough, Isaac was a sleep disaster waking up to play or want bananas in the middle of the night. Wouldn’t sleep in his crib until we just decided to leave him there and ignore him on Friday.
Even with jet lag he was pretty pleasant during daytime most of the week.
He was very excited to see his old friends and go back to old routines. Especially happy to see Claudia O’Barr.
Called Hymn book “Prayer Songs”
He now calls his smoothies “smoothies” instead of “Ba-te,” although only his parents can tell that’s what he’s saying.
Visited Julia and Co-Jojo’s place on Sunday and had a bonanza throwing packing peanuts all over the place. Probably ranks up in his top 3 happy moments so far in life…
By Sunday the 5th, he’s pretty much adjusted back to the time zone.
He likes to say “be nice!” and on Wednesday night he walked up to the bishop and said, “Be nice Obispo”

Mar.6-12, 2006
Grandma and Grandpa Nuttall came for a visit as well as Clay & Kristen Hargis and their 5 kids so it was a very good week for family bonding. The suegros stayed with us and the Hargis’ stayed at a hotel, but we all hung out a lot.
We went to Sea World twice with the Hargis fam and Isaac learned to say Uncle Clay Aunt Kristen and “cousins”. He has a lot more cousins than he ever realized and he had a blast running around with Clay’s kids
He’s started singing Old MacDonald had a farm all by himself and Old MacDonald has all kinds of interesting things from animals like chickens (in one syllable), horses, cows, and pigs to other things on his mind like balloons, Aunt Julia, triangle, circle, gas, one, two, three, etc.
Bed time has gotten MUCH better. He’s miraculously adjusted to the routine again and he’s actually better about going to bed. We’ve also improved upon the routine and he knows that after Time for Bed and Good Night Moon we’ll sing him Twinkle Twinkle Little star & Estrellita con tu luz to the music of the fish aquarium in his crib and then its time to say good night.
“push button” is his new favorite phrase, he loves to push elevator buttons
“be gentle”
He’s been using the phrase “que paso” in Spanish correctly when something falls or goes wrong
Tortilla huevitos is his new favorite food
He impressed Grandma and Grandpa by finishing the last words in all of the sentences in the “los pollitos” song and showing off his Spanish with his Dinosaurios book
Pronouns—He somehow knows to switch the “you” to “I”—When we say things like “you did it!” or “yes you do!” He’ll say back to us “I did it!” and “Yes I do!”
He puts his toy car together with his green tractor and calls it a choochoo train.
He’s almost weaned!!!! No more day time nursing—He’s a “big boy” now and the only hold out is middle of the night.

I said Isaac, “you’re so smart” and he said, “I’m so smart” He’s really good at switching the pronouns
Isaac is officially weaned!!! Yippee! The timing was right. He’s actually sleeping through the night better now, and when he wants “milkies” during the day, we just have to remind him that he’s a big boy, and big boys drink “smoothies.” He really loves his smoothies. We’ve even been throwing carrots and oatmeal into his smoothies lately and he doesn’t seem to mind a bit.
He’s using a lot more two word phrases now. For the past few weeks he’s been using combinations like “red square” and “blue fish” and “rana verde” but now he’s added more complex ones like “momma sleeping” or “tomar agua” He really seems to be progressing in both languages really well.
He also seems to get the concept of dimunizations in both languages. He’ll say agua and aguita / perro and perrito as well as dog and doggie, frog and froggie
He is becoming quite the flirt. He seriously gets a bigger smile and shows off more for cute girls, especially at church. He’ll say “Como estas Dana (Mitsy, Lupe, etc)” and “bye-bye Dana” and put on his charming smile.
During sacrament meeting last week after the second prayer he looked up towards the ceiling and said, “bye-bye Jesus, adios JesuCristo”—I can’t remember exactly, but it was really sweet and he looked as if he really was talking to someone.
He’s favorite foods come in combos these days, “tortilla / huevitos” “cereal /yogurt” “pizza /hotdog”
He’ll say hug, kiss, and beso and be really cute and snuggly, especially when he wants to get out of a time out.

March 20-26, 2006
Now that he’s weaned he’s started pointing to mama’s “milkies” and say “that’s for babies”—it’s pretty funny.
His new phrases of the week in English and Spanish are “don’t thow” “no tires cosas” “don’t touch” “no toques”—he especially likes saying these phrases while throwing or touching something off limits. Oh and he also learned “no pegues” and “don’t hit” this week which he also says sometimes while hitting something.
He’s learned the word “stuck” and can now ask “are you stuck?” He kind of overuses the phrase though—he’ll use it when he can’t pass a certain obstacle or his little car gets stuck.
His favorite phrase in Spanish is “Que paso?”
Rocks, dirt, more rocks and dirt please—he loves being outside.
Isaac now knows that there is a baby in momma’s tummy and he likes to give my belly button lots of kisses and zurberts. He likes to say “baby tummy,” but it will become more of a reality when my tummy gets bigger.
He’s turned a corner in the world of bath time. He used to whine when we washed his hair, so we started telling him that he was a little blue fish swimming in the water (a song he learned from Grandma Nuttall) and now he’s usually pretty pumped about getting wet.
Sense of humor development—he pretended to drink a bottle of water with the lid on and he thought it was hilarious.
More cousins, aunts, and uncles!!! It was a great weekend for family. The Taylors (Chip, Jackie, Amber, Beth, Wendy, Adam, Eric, Rebecca, & Jazmine) came Thursday night and Isaac and I spent Friday at Sea World with them. Then on Saturday uncle Timo and Aunt Julia came along with uncle JoJo and Aunt Julia. We tried to teach Isaac the concept that there are two Julias but he was still a little confused. After James told him he said, “two Julias—two doggies!”—he has a number book with two doggies in it so I guess he was making the association, pretty funny. We all went on a hike to Torrey Pines in La Jolla and Isaac had a blast playing with the rocks and sand.
